Week 2 of the NFL preseason is quickly approaching, and while fantasy managers are trying to parse out target shares and rotation splits, the injury wire is already causing chaos across consensus draft boards.
Whether it’s a nagging soft-tissue issue for a proven star or an unexpected setback for a rookie entering the league, monitoring these health updates is critical if you want to stay ahead of the rest of your league.
Here is the latest injury news on three key players: Chicago Bears RB Kyle Monangai, New York Jets Breece Hall, and New Orleans Saints Jordyn Tyson.

The Latest Injury News On Kyle Monangai, Breece Hall, and Jordyn Tyson
Kyle Monangai, RB, Chicago Bears
Kyle Monangai was sensational as a rookie last season. Entering the league out of Rutgers as a seventh-round pick, the powerful RB proved that he could handle a sizable workload in complement of D’Andre Swift and be trusted by Ben Johnson and this coaching staff.
With this productive rookie campaign under his belt, Monangai figures to be a central piece to this backfield again in 2026, but the waters just got muddied a bit in practice on Sunday when he took a tackle from a teammate and suffered a hyperextended right knee.
With this injury, Monangai is expected to miss multiple weeks and it’s unclear at this moment if that means that his Week 1 status is in jeopardy. It could be an injury that he bounces right back from just before the season starts…or it could be something that plagues him as he moves into the regular season.
Monangai is a mid-range RB3 in my current rankings and he’ll hold tight there for the time being until we get definitive word on whether or not he’s going to miss Week 1. He holds some Flex value, but should be viewed as one of the better handcuff RBs in the event that D’Andre Swift would ever miss time this season.
Fantasy Injury Update on Christian McCaffrey >>>
Breece Hall, RB, New York Jets
There was a brief moment this offseason that fantasy managers were holding out hope that Breece Hall would hit the open market and join a more dynamic offense to reach the true ceiling that his talent deserves.
Unfortunately for those fantasy managers, Hall decided to sign a contract extension with the New York Jets and he figures to be a massive part of this retooling offense as it heads into 2026 with QB Geno Smith and an influx of new weapons.
That assumption was put on a brief pause on Monday afternoon though as news came across the wire that Hall suffered a non-contact injury in practice and initial reports were that it didn’t look good.
Thankfully, we now know that Hall suffered a minor groin injury and the expectation is that he will not need surgery to address the issue. This means that we will need to wait a few weeks before we see Hall back on the practice field, but he should be back in time for Week 1.
If that is the case, Hall remains a high-end/mid-range RB2 that will have some spike performances, but figures to be held back by the overall state of the offense this season. This article will be updated if any further clarifying news regarding Hall is released.
Kyle Yates’ Must-Have WRs For 2026 >>>
Jordyn Tyson, WR, New Orleans Saints
Jordyn Tyson has been one of the hottest names in training camp circles this offseason. He’s been reportedly tearing it up at Saints camp and was projected to hit the ground running immediately in this Kellen Moore-led passing attack.
This is obviously what you would hope to expect for a top-10 overall WR draft pick, but the anticipation to see what he looks like on the field will – unfortunately – have to wait a while as news broke on Monday that Tyson suffered another hamstring injury and he is now projected to miss a couple of months as he recovers.
Tyson has a lengthy injury history, which was one of his only real knocks coming out of Arizona State, and it’s already flared up multiple times before he’s played a NFL game.
In 2022, he tore his ACL, MCL, and PCL. In 2024, he fractured his collarbone. And then in 2025, he sprained his ankle and suffered multiple different hamstring injuries.
He’s an incredibly talented player, but the best ability in the NFL is availability. And this is not exactly starting out the way that Tyson – or fantasy managers would want to see.
He was a Flex option – at WR40 in my latest rankings update – before this news broke. Now, he’ll move significantly further down the board most likely into the WR60’s territory and be nothing more than a draft-and-stash player in the final rounds of your draft.
With the likelihood that he’s not back until after the Saints’ Week 8 bye, Tyson’s most likely a player that I’ll let someone else and draft and attempt to trade for a couple of weeks before he is set to return.
