Well, the first 24+ hours of NFL Free Agency have been wild.
Trying to stay on top of the news from yesterday during the first three hours by creating news graphics and social media reels was an experience. At one point, I legitimately said out loud, “Can we just hold on for one second?!”
So much happened in such a short time span that it’s important to try and get a sense of what solid ground now is after the fantasy football landscape shifted in dramatic fashion. Let’s dive in.
2026 NFL Free Agency Fantasy Football Analysis
Isiah Pacheco Lands With The Lions
Things flamed out for Isiah Pacheco as a starting-caliber RB in Kansas City after he came back from his injury, but this landing spot is about as excellent as we were going to get for his fantasy football value.
He’ll be a high-level backup behind Jahmyr Gibbs that should rotate in just enough to be in Flex consideration for plus matchups. If Gibbs ever goes down with an injury, Pacheco could vault up the weekly rankings.
We’ll need to see if they add anyone else in the NFL Draft, but Pacheco’ dynasty managers should be pleased with this landing spot as the David Montgomery replacement.
Dawson Knox Signs Extension With The Bills
Dalton Kincaid may never truly be a thing in Buffalo. Knox signed a three-year extension with the team earlier today to keep him around for the foreseeable future.
He doesn’t hold any fantasy football value, but he also limits what Kincaid can do in this offense.
Tyquan Thornton Retained By The Chiefs
Tyquan Thornton was one of the – surprisingly – bright spots of the Kansas City offense last season and he parlayed that into a two-year extension to remain with the team.
He’s a volatile fantasy asset due to his role, but he’s certainly still worth retaining and rolling out into your Flex in deeper dynasty formats in plus matchups due to his upside.
Rico Dowdle Signed By The Steelers
Rico Dowdle left the Carolina Panthers this offseason in search of a full-time role somewhere and he seemingly got it here behind an underrated Pittsburgh offensive line.
Yes, he’ll have Jaylen Warren to factor in as a third-down back, but Dowdle should easily be locked in to 225+ carries – plus goal line opportunities – this next season. He gets a slight bump up the dynasty rankings and could be in top 20 RB consideration in redraft.
Kendrick Bourne Signs With Arizona
Kendrick Bourne landed a two-year contract with Arizona to come in as a depth option behind Marvin Harrison Jr. and Michael Wilson for this offense.
As they plan on moving ahead with Jacoby Brissett as the starter in 2026, the passing volume will likely be plentiful enough where Bourne could see some standalone value at different points.
Kenny Pickett Lands With Carolina
Kenny Pickett has bounced around to several NFL teams now and lands with Carolina to be a decent backup behind Bryce Young.
Rashid Shaheed Stays With Seattle
Shaheed likely could have gone elsewhere in free agency and cashed in with a large payday, but he ultimately decided to stay in Seattle on a solid contract extension and chase another ring.
His fantasy value remains the same as what it was in 2025.
Travis Kelce Returns To Kansas City
Travis Kelce mulled retirement, but he decided to run it back for one more year with Kansas City. There was discussion that he would entertain offers from other teams, but that didn’t last very long.
Kelce’s definitely experienced a drop-off at this stage of his career, but if Kansas City can get back to their offensive playmaking ability this next year, Kelce could be a viable TE option for fantasy lineups.
Geno Smith Winds Up Back With The Jets
Geno Smith has been traded back to the New York Jets, which should shock every single NFL fan after how his tenure with the team ended.
He’s not a top-tier QB, but as far as the available options out there that could have provided fantasy value to guys like Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall, Smith was near the top of the list.
Wilson gets an upgrade at QB – not a high bar – and this offense should be able to move the ball enough for Hall to improve on his touchdown totals from 2025.
Tua Tagovailoa Is An Atlanta Falcon
Quickly after being released by the Miami Dolphins, Tua Tagovailoa landed with the Atlanta Falcons as a way to create competition with Michael Penix Jr.
It shouldn’t be viewed as a guarantee that Penix will be the starter in Week 1. He was not drafted by this regime and Tua was intentionally brought in very early on in free agency.
Tua’s fantasy value may not be done just yet.
Marcus Mariota Re-Signs With Washington
Potentially viewed as a bridge option for some NFL teams this offseason, Marcus Mariota re-signed on a one-year deal with the Washington Commanders as the backup to Jayden Daniels.
Romeo Doubs Signs With New England
Romeo Doubs had to wait just a bit to get his big payday, but he got it after landing with the New England Patriots earlier this afternoon.
After being part of a mixture of numerous pass catchers in Green Bay, Doubs should be viewed as the likely WR1 in this offense right away.
There’s a world where – if things stay the way they are right now – Doubs is a top 24 WR in 2026.
JK Dobbins Returns To Denver
Dobbins has been incredibly productive over the past few seasons when he’s been on the field, but injuries have derailed his opportunity each time.
Denver chose to go with what they know though and they re-signed Dobbins to a two-year deal, indicating that he’s likely to be the main option in this backfield again in 2026.
You have to be concerned about injuries, but when he’s out there, Dobbins will be a top 20 option at the RB position.
Mike Evans Heads To San Francisco
It officially happened! Mike Evans has left Tampa Bay.
Evans signed a sizable contract to head to San Francisco and provide the 49ers with a big-bodied X receiver that can still threaten vertically at this point in his career.
Add on his red zone ability and Evans can still be a solid fantasy option when he’s on the field. You have to account for him missing some time, but his fantasy value holds pretty steady – if not increases slightly with the lack of WR competition for targets.
Jalen Nailor Signs With Las Vegas
The indication going into free agency was that Jalen Nailor could end up receiving more money on the open market than many were expecting.
He ends up signing a solid contract with Las Vegas to be the next primary target for Fernando Mendoza, the presumed No. 1 overall pick.
If you’ve held onto Nailor this entire time, he should see his fantasy value rise to a WR3/Flex option as early as this season.
Jahan Dotson Lands With Atlanta
Jahan Dotson was stuck behind AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith in Philadelphia, but there’s an actual opportunity in front of him here to be the No. 2 WR in this new Falcons offense.
He’ll most certainly have competition added via the NFL Draft – or later on in free agency. But he’s a winner right now from a fantasy standpoint.
Wan’Dale Robinson Reunites With Brian Daboll
Wan’Dale got a major payday in free agency to reunite with Brian Daboll in Tennessee and give Cam Ward a solid receiving weapon in the underneath passing game.
This Titans offense has a long way to go before we can consider them a target for the weapons they have in fantasy drafts, but Robinson will be a massive target hog here.
He’s moved significantly up the rankings, with the qualifier that things are likely to change as they add in more receiving options.
Travis Etienne Is Now A New Orleans Saint
There was a lot of speculation around where Travis Etienne would land in free agency, but he chooses to stay closer to home and be the successor to Alvin Kamara in New Orleans.
Etienne will essentially have this backfield to himself and he got enough money where he should be viewed as the primary option. Anyone else they add is most likely just a rotational piece.
Etienne moved up to RB13 in my dynasty rankings – for the time being – and RB9 in 2026 Redraft rankings.
Tyler Allgeier Signs With Arizona
This one was a bit confusing to me, if I’m being honest. James Conner just restructured his contract to remain with the team in 2026, while Trey Benson is also still on the roster.
There’s no diversity in skillset between those players, so it seems highly unlikely that all three will be on the roster in Week 1.
Given the money that Allgeier got, plus Conner’s restructuring, it seems likely that Benson is the odd man out.
If that’s the case, Allgeier has the potential to be a very sneaky value in drafts this year. The presence of Conner could keep his ADP lower, but Allgeier’s contract and skillset mean that he’ll likely be the lead option.
He should be in the RB2 conversation for 2026. And he certainly gets a bump up in dynasty given that he finally has a shot at the starting job somewhere again.
Kenneth Gainwell Signs With Tampa Bay
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers showed us that they highly valued Bucky Irving in his rookie season, but everything since that point has signaled that maybe they don’t believe his best fit is as a workhorse option.
Gainwell was fantastic this past year for the Pittsburgh Steelers and he’ll step right in as the receiving option out of this backfield, while Bucky handles the early-down work.
That will have value as a RB3/Flex play in fantasy football with upside if Irving misses time.
Mitchell Trubisky Lands With Tennessee
Trubisky has spent the last several seasons as a backup to Josh Allen in Buffalo and now gets an opportunity to be a high-level backup behind a shaky, young QB in Tennessee.
If Ward shows that he can’t develop quickly, Trubisky could be given another shot at starting eventually.
Isaiah Likely Gets Major Payday In New York
Isaiah Likely was a key name to monitor going into free agency as someone that could see his value spike if he moved out of the shadow of Mark Andrews. Finally, that happened.
Likely followed John Harbaugh to New York and will be a primary target for Jaxson Dart over the middle of the field. He just jumped up to a top 12 TE in fantasy football for me this next season.
Malik Willis Gets A Starting Job In Miami
The top free agent on the market – with positional value factored in – landed with old friends in Miami. Malik Willis will now be the next starting QB for the Dolphins as they usher in the new era under Jeff Hafley.
Willis and De’Von Achane in the same backfield is wild to think about. Due to his rushing ability alone, Willis should be viewed as a top 15 QB for fantasy purposes for 2026 redraft leagues.
Michael Pittman Jr. Gets Traded To Pittsburgh
Based on news that you’ll see later on in this article, Michael Pittman Jr.’s tenure with the Indianapolis Colts needed to come to an end for financial reasons.
He was shipped off in a late-round pick swap to the Pittsburgh Steelers and handed a new contract extension, but major questions still exist as to what this means for his fantasy football value.
There’s no real starting QB in Pittsburgh right now. Aaron Rodgers hasn’t decided whether or not he’s coming back and that makes it impossible to predict what Pittman’s value will be moving forward.
Stay tuned, we’ll discuss.
Cade Otton Returns To Tampa Bay
Cade Otton was potentially going to be a massive riser in the fantasy rankings for me if he had been able to land elsewhere, but he signed a solid contract extension to return to Tampa Bay and be their TE1 for the foreseeable future.
With Mike Evans officially gone, this does open up some more target opportunities for Otton. But it likely doesn’t move him too far up the rankings as anything more than a high-end TE2.
Kenneth Walker Signs With Kansas City
The big-ticket free agent RB landed with the dream spot for fantasy purposes!
Kenneth Walker signed a sizable contract to be the next RB1 for the Kansas City Chiefs and his fantasy value spiked as a result.
Walker is now the RB8 in my dynasty rankings and the RB6 in my 2026 Redraft rankings. If you held onto him this entire time in dynasty, congratulations!
Alec Pierce Gets Massive Payday To Return To Indy
Alec Pierce had no shortage of suitors in free agency, but he chose to remain in Indianapolis with a large contract extension!
With Pittman now out the door, Pierce should evolve from a primary deep threat to now a more well-rounded WR that could see a significant target spike in 2026 and beyond.
For the time being, he’s at WR20 in my redraft rankings and WR23 in dynasty!
